Humming bird nectar

Humming bird nectarWhile the ideal source of humming bird nectar is a flower or plant, nectar can also be man-made. Nectar comes from exotic plants and native varieties. A garden needs to be filled with flowers in order to provide enough nectar for a good population of hummingbirds.

That is why many gardens also offer humming bird nectar in feeders in their gardens. Humming bird feeders are a wonderful way to offer nectar to humming birds. A simple sugar and water mixture can feed a group of birds for a few days.

Bird professionals and scientists will often not recommend a lot of artificial humming bird nectar. It is thought that a large amount of sugar and water is not healthy for humming birds. However, it will work for a food substitute.
